Indian Laurel as a Tonewood

Post by Darryl Young »

What do you think of Indean Laurel for back and sides on a guitar? What is the tone like? Is there another wood that it sounds similar to (that I might be familiar with)?

Thanks!

The Zootman recently put up some beautiful sets, going fast. I believe it is similar to Walnut in density and porosity.

We do have Indian Laurel sets. I think this is a really nice tonewood. Very similar tonal qualities to walnut. In fact it is sometimes called oriental walnut. Sets are really nice looking to boot.
