My Maple scratch build.

Post by JVan »

I thought I would take this time to post some pics of the scratch build I have just completed. It is for a guy that I know very well and it was built to his specs. It has Big Leaf quilted maple back and sides, European spruce top, ebony fingerboard and bridge, Cocobolo bindings and rosette, tiger maple neck.
I did not post any pics of the build as I was not a member of the forum at the time when I started this one back in November. I can dig up some of it later on and post.
I just got it all set up yesterday and I was amazed at the sound. I have never played a Maple guitar up til then, I like it. (Customer may have too knock me down for this one!)

Very nicely done. I really like the bridge and the rosette design.

It looks great JV! I too like the radial lines in the Cocobolo rosette.

What pattern is the fingerboard inlay? I can't see it that well, do you have a shot of the fingerboard?

Thanks everyone for the comments, Appreciate it. It was a fun build, and it plays and sounds really good. Here is a photo of the fretboard inlays, not the best shot! The Martin 42 snowflake pattern with an extra football ( teardrop,?) on the 17th! On the rosette I cut 6 individual radiused pieces of cocobolo and set them in between little pieces of ebony and then inlaid the radial lines.
