Here is a short tutorial I have done on a subject I get asked about quite often. How to use a burn in stick to fill defects in preparation to finish your guitar. Enjoy.

Interesting process, thanks Brian. I have a knife oven, would that get hot enough to melt the sticks? I use it to heat my knifes when separating tops, binding etc. for repairs.

Brian, thanks for the demonstration tutorial. I have a Uke that I am preparing for finish today. I will use your burn in method to fill a couple of areas that I need filled. I have used burn stick for finish repairs. It never occurred to me to use them as part of prep.

Tim, I think your oven would likely work fine but you will need to try it to find out. As I may have mentioned, different stick from different suppliers are made of different resins and have slightly different melting points.
