Chitarra (pasta guitar)

Had to share with this group. I learned about the traditional Chitarra on a recent trip to the Abruzzo region of Italy. It means guitar but in this case a pasta cutting one for making pasta alla chitarra. Spaghetti shaped pasta. Roll out sheets of dough and push through the strings with the rolling pin
Made this quick prototype from walnut based on antique ones it seems everyone’s Italian grandma used to have.
28 gauge stainless wire. I need to work on more precise string spacing and will rework these before rolling out some dough. I just hand cut the tenons they could be tighter but I like how it looks vintage
