Chitarra (pasta guitar)

Had to share with this group. I learned about the traditional Chitarra on a recent trip to the Abruzzo region of Italy. It means guitar but in this case a pasta cutting one for making pasta alla chitarra. Spaghetti shaped pasta. Roll out sheets of dough and push through the strings with the rolling pin

Made this quick prototype from walnut based on antique ones it seems everyone’s Italian grandma used to have.

28 gauge stainless wire. I need to work on more precise string spacing and will rework these before rolling out some dough. I just hand cut the tenons they could be tighter but I like how it looks vintage

I think we all want to know how it sounds! What tuning is it in? he-he.....

I saw on guy who put dulcimer pegs on each string and tuned each to a middle C. They do need to be tight enough to sound a note but that’s over-engineering at its best.
