I used to do a lot of photography, something I hope to do more of this year. I caught the rise of the Super Moon on April 7. I've just gotten around to posting it.

Before moving to WV, I was heavily involved in astronomy. I still own a nice telescope. We used to set up our telescopes for sidewalk astronomy around Cincinnati, so people could look at various things. The highlight of the year was the Perseid meteor shower. The Cincinnati Astronomical Society, along with the Miami Valley Astronomical Society, would set up our scopes at Ceasars Creek State Park every August 11-12, at the height of the shower, to allow people to see everything from double stars to deepsky fuzzies, like nebulae, globular clusters, and galaxies.

On Halloween, when you came to my house, you got a piece of candy and a look through the telescope. I was known as "The Telescope Lady".

About 5 years ago, on an exceptionally clear and cold Christmas Eve, the constellation Orion was high overhead. I decided to see what my bridge camera, a Canon SX40hs, would capture by itself, on a tripod, from my backyard.

Here is the result.

I've bought a Panasonic fz1000, another bridge camera with a lens with an enormous diameter; it's a monster of a bridge camera with an actual "bulb" setting. I hope to get some nice wide field shots.

From a very occasional - and fair-weather - astronomer: Moonrise as a lunar eclipse began, October 2008 I think.

Excellent Bruce!

Unfortunately, the only photos I have are moon shots. I hope to get more sky shots this year of fuzzies.
