Joys in Life

Post by rcnewcomb »

One of the great joys in life is sitting down with the family to sing Christmas songs accompanied by a guitar that I built.

Really? My workmanship is sufficiently shoddy that my wife doesn't instinctively ask "when did you sneak out and buy another guitar without me noticing?" which is usually followed by "when are you going to finish (project X, Y or Z?)" ;o)

Yes -- we got together with my wife's brother a while ago and played some music. At one point in the proceedings, somebody remarked that all the instruments being played -- three guitars and a dulcimer -- had been built by me. That was really cool.

there is something quite satisfying in playing instruments that you made and hear the music. We have to kill a tree in order to make it sing

It's very satisfying to have other people enjoy guitars that you've made. It makes it all worth while.
