Kevin, it does look like Red Palm (not sure if Red Palm is considered Domestic) but what little bit of end grain that I can see doesn't look right for Red Palm, but if I had to guess I would say Red Palm, I don't recall seeing any other "American" wood that looks like that.

Lacewood's a good guess but incorrect.
Not Red Palm either.

Did you stain that wood or is it natural? I just clicked on the picture to enlarge it and it has that open grain pattern like the Oaks but the color is odd for Oak. What I need you to do is take a bite out of the corner of one of the pieces and chew it up real good and tell us what it tastes like.
