Hello....

Post by B. Howard »

Hello, my name is Brian Howard. I am a Luthier in Hummelstown PA. At least I am a Luthier now.... Up until that time I have been a professional woodworker, having spent the last 20 years or so making high end custom cabinetry and millwork for custom builders in the area. I tried building guitars back in the early 90's and failed miserably. That experience in itself taught me a lot. I got very discouraged and simply stayed a cabinetmaker. I had to take the long way around to get here, to be what I wanted to be all along. I would like to help others persevere through the early mistakes and failures that happen and become better luthiers.

I have met John through ASIA and the Mid Atlantic Luthiers and since he and others were so willing to share their knowledge with me when I got back to this I am now looking to return those favors. I will be giving a presentation on my French Polish techniques at the March MAL meeting and will also be at the Blues Creek open house in June talking about finish repairs for the builder. A how to on fixing those little dents and scratches that happen to all of us from time to time as we finish our instruments. I'll also be checking here to see whats happening and see if I can't learn something as well.

Look forward to meeting all of you.
You never know what you are capable of until you actually try....
