Darren actually answered correctly first. He referred to ziricote by what it is affectionately called by people who have had the "pleasure" of working with it, Mexican Crackwood. From what I understand, it has a propensity for cracking along the black grain lines. Hopefully, neither of the sets I have will live up to this nick name.

I have never heard Ziricote refered to as "Mexican Crackwood", my apologies Darren!
