Maybe Pink Ivory wood - used for pens and knife handles.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Pink Ivory (Berchemia Zeyheri), also called umnini and umgoloty, grown mostly in Zimbabwe and Mozambique, very beautiful wood but if you want to but some you better have deep pockets.

OK, after carefully considering this I say it's Pink Ivory wood!

Pink ivory was my first guess, but I went with bloodwood because it is more readily available and cheaper than pink ivory.
So what are you going to do with it?

I used some of it in one of those jewelry boxes I made, the rest of it probably won't be used in a guitar.

Hmmmm, are you sure?
I have a chunk of pink ivory out in my shop that I used for handles on folding knives years ago. It is a much deeper color than that wood, and it has some slight yellow, or light tan streaking in part of it.....hmmmm, and it is as hard as the dickens, almost impossible to sand it on a machine without burning the surface, and harder yet to cut on a bandsaw without burning it.
I'm not saying you are wrong, just saying..... :>)
Oh, and twenty years ago it wasn't so expensive either!!
That's how long I've had it.

I've had it for about a year, it is sealed in shellac. I got it from Gilmer wood so I'm quite sure it is Pink Ivory. One of the pieces has some of that yellow streaking that you describe but you can't see it.

"How do you know it's there then?" he asked as he picked up his hammer and saw.
