My family and I went about two hours north to Caratunk, Maine, on Sunday, stayed overnight, and saw the total eclipse on Monday. As you say, there are no words to describe what was up there, or any picture that captures the feeling.
We came back late Tuesday morning and so avoided the backup of 10,000 cars that were all trying to get down Rout 201 on Monday evening.
Here are a few photos. I didn't have a suitable camera to get a good shot of the eclipse, so it came out as a bright disk.
