Martin Repair Summit

Post by tippie53 »

2 years ago CF Martin invited 50 repair centers to come to the factory to share information and see the latest and greatest. It was a great week . Martin put us up in the Hampton Inn and treated us like royalty. We got to speak to counterparts from all over and discuss techniques and materials . We also did a lot of jamming.
Here are 2 friends of mine, Dick Boak and David Nichols of Custom Pearl Inlay. Dave taught me a lot about inlay and building.

We were there in the Factory and get to see up close and personal the Martin way . Carmen Cortez was introducing the speaker and updating us on Martin repair policy.

Getting to see the fixtures up close and personal really explained a lot . There are many misconceptions about the process but as you can see I was there up close and personal
Here is how they set up the rims The disks have a radius and the mold is set on stops so they can control the process very well.

You can see Richard Starkey in the back ground as we were speaking to the production people on things they learned

He is a pretty big name down south in the bluegrass world. He is a clinician for martin and goes around doing seminars and guitar playing clinics. If you ever hear that he is in your area , he is worth going to see.
