If you're planning on attending the GAL Convention in Tacoma, July 20 - 24, and will be in the area the evening before, Sound Guitar/Running Dog Guitars are having a shop party. That's Tuesday July 19 at our shop in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle, from around 4 to ???

At the last Convention, we had the Stew-Mac crew here for a demo of new products, also many local luthiers and musicians. This year, I expect it'll be much the same: a nice big shop full of tools, jigs, complete and in-progress instruments, repair projects, and food and drink and music. Meet old and make new friends before the Convention gets underway!

If you plan on coming by, drop me a note (PM or "rick(at)vtguitars.com") just so we know how much ice to get. Feel free to drop in unannounced if things work out that way.

I would love to be able to attend some of these functions and get-togethers but unfortunately they never happen close enough to me to be feasable, rats! Maybe some day.

I would also love to attend, but the location prohibits it.

Update on the party:
I've heard from some folks who are planning on attending -- Al Carruth, Evan Gluck, Mike Doolin, the Stew-Mac crew, Tom Ribbecke, and more. There will also be some local players, so instruments will get abused, ah, played ...

Hope to see some Kit Guitars Forum folks here! Let me know if you can make it!

Love too, but not in the budget this year! Have a great time, and take lots of pics!

Sounds like a blast, but I'll be here with my grandkids.
Is this a once a year event?

Kevin --
The GAL Convention is generally every three years. We hosted a party with the Seattle Luthiers Group and the Stewart-MacDonald crew before the last one. At this point, I'd have to say that it's triennial rather than annual, but it IS becoming a regular event.

Our friend, singer/songwriter Danny O'Keefe (Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues, many others), stopped in today and said that he's planning on attending, so there'll be some great music too!
