To put up a picture, just enter these two codes (img) and (/img) but use []brackets instead of ()parentheses -- with the image location in quotes, between them, like this:

If the link is correct, his will result in your picture appearing. The tag for this picture was:
[img]"http://www.nichebooks.com/kits/images2/shortnut.jpg"[/img ]
(An extra space was added in the ending tag so the text would print and not the image.

Here's the image that tag points to.

Your photo MUST be on the internet somewhere, not just on your local computer.
Just follow the format of the codes in the "Allowed tags" shown below, using the "img" tag.
Of course, you do have to have the images online somewhere ... can't get around that one.

The photo is of a device to improve intonation -- sort of a Zero Fret -- distributed by www.monteallums.com

Bill,

Huh?? That looks like 'C' programming, or HTML. I haven't done that stuff for about 10 years, and don't want to start again. That's about as 'clear as mud' to me, and I used to do some progamming when I was younger. I appreciate your effort, but I don't think many will be able to use that. I think you need a simpler method/solution.

Bill,

Here's a photo of my Epi BluesMaster from my Snapfish photo ablum courtesy of Comcast. I used the "Copy Image Location" option, then pasted into this message. I did a test run in 'Anything Else'.

Chris -- I don't know .. it seems pretty straightforward to me ... you just put the IMG in brackets and a quote in front of your picture address, and then the quote and the closing IMG in brackets after it, as shown below, and the picture appears. I think this is easier than on the other forums -- and for right now, it's the only way I have to do it.

WHen I first read your response, I thought you were talking about my "Zero Fret" thing -- Ha! -- took me a minute to figure out you were talking about the code stuff.

Ah, well --- maybe it's my age.

Bill, I think one thing you forgot to mention is that when posting an image, it already has to be hosted onanother website. You cannot use this method when posting from your local hard drive. Photobcuket and angelfire are two free photo hosting sites, but there are hundreds of others you can find through googling. And not at women, as entertaining as that might be.

Bill, is there anyway to post directly into a new topic post and have the pic appear without having to use the method you described?

Hi Robbie -- No, sorry, not with this program. Using the img tags with a link to the photo is the only way to post a photo here. Of course, you can put the photo into a new topic using the img tags.

But, maybe I don't understand the question. Below (picture of guitar) is the method for posting in any new topic entry or comment entry -- just use [img]"pictureURLinthemiddle"[/img ]

Ken -- that's right, must be on a website, not your local computer. I would provide the space if possible, but don't have the space ... it gets expensive and I'm paying for all of this personally.

I'm timing myself posting an image:

This entire post took 48 seconds. including copying the image link.

This was the link:

[img]"http://www.nichebooks.com/kits/images2/guitar01.jpg"[/img.]

If your link is extremely long, just go to the link URL, copy it, and paste it in between the quotes.

Like this: [img]"copy the link an paste it between the quotes"[/img ]

This is kind of a test, I haven't made an acoustic guitar yet so I'm going to post a picture of the bass I made and the new 00-15 that has inspired me to complete the kit that has been hiding in my closet for the past 4 years or so.

Trial pic post....If it works this is a pic of my Martin kit ready for sanding and finishing. Neck pick gurad and bridge are just there for the pic.

JOHN: I was going to fix the link, but it is unfixable. The Kodak gallery (and others) do not allow images on their sites to be grabbed and displayed on third-party sites. You have to put it in another site or in a folder somewhere in the web that can be reache by a regular browser.
Sorry -- their rules, not ours. -- Bill

Joe: Looks like this photo is posted from a local hard drive on a Windows machine. In order to post photos, they have to be on the internet somewhere.

Go to this thread http://www.kitguitarsforum.com/forum/threads.php?id=2552_0_2_0_C and read for some places to post photos. Many are free of charge.

I tried posting it for you using the link you posted, there must be an issue with posting on another site, it wouldn't let me do it for you either.

It works every time if the photo is on the internet, on a site where they don't restrict linking. As stated in the opening post, the complete photo address from a website must be between the quotes: Clearly states it needs to be on a website on the internet.

On that last image from nehsgolfer, the image on photobucket is configured to be linked for email and IM -- that's not what this forum is. In photobucket prefs, you can make the links available for posting on forums, and when you do that, you will get more addresses to use for specific purposes.

In other words, the problems displayed above are not happening because of this site.

That code last posted is the code in the format Photobucket requires for displaying on its own website. Also, as labeled above the photo on the Photobucket since you have changed it in the Photobucket prefs (yesterday?) a couple of changes have been made in the code.

Note the differences between the current code and the one in the post above: I've inserted a period below in the first IMG tag so the text would show instead of the photo. Note the "i716" instead of the "s716", and the absence of the "?action=view¤t=" tags. Those make all the difference in how the Photobucket program allows the image to be used:

[ IMG]http://i716.photobucket.com/albums/ww170/nehsgolfer/100_0337.jpg[/IMG]

As I said above, when the links are done correctly, they will always show the photo. The fault is not with this program.

When the above link is used (without the extra space), the photo is displayed here.

This second photo, same photo, was linked with quote marks; the one above was linked without quote marks, with the URL exactly as copied from the new Photobucket code.

Here is my first attempt to post a picture. I built this guitar while attending a school at Custom Pearl Inlay.

This is a test of a new picture hosting site I am trying.
We will see if any of these work.
The first one is their code with my picture name.

The second try is their code, my picture name, and the """ added.
The third try is their code as they said to copy it.

The fourth is their code with the """" added which they are not showing in their code.

Alright, so I use their code as they gave it to me with the renamed picture file.

If any of you are interested, this has been doen using Tinypic, at tinypic.com
I have had a Geocities free account for years, but they just stopped offering the service. Looks like Tinypic will work for posting pictures just fine.

Hi Kevin, thanks, that's just what I need. My mobile me trial has expired. This is the code they gave me;

It works! that was so easy.

ADMIN EDIT:
Mike (and all) if you will add this after your photo ( width="640" ) just before the [/img] tag, you can make it correctly sized for the screen so it won't be too big for the screen.

Thanks --- Bill
