Hi

I put my OM Kit sides in mold today, top of the rims facing down, back of the rims (taper side) facing up.

The tail end is flush with the work surface but the heel end is showing a gap which suggest the top of the rims are also slightly tapered - is that normal ?

The pictures show the tail and the heel ends

Thanks

The rim top edge is sloped from the sound hole to the neckblock at about 1.3 degrees. However, this is done on sanders after the sides, block, and kerfing are installed. So the the top of all those parts are assembled flat. This neck set slope amounts to right around .055" removed from the neck block on the out side perimeter --- looks to me like you have three times that amount before sanding --- I suspect a twist during bending.

Hi

Thanks I had another tinker with it and discovered that I needed to shave a bit more from the edges of the joint, it wasn't square. It sits OK now but I expect it does have a slight twist as it does not naturally sit I. have to put a bit of pressure on it to make it touch the table.

My seam is slightly off center at the heel, that will be in another post !

if you got a serviced kit it may have the angle established by the use of the radius disk.
