Hey all,

This one is all finished. Here are a few pics. My wife, Barbara was kind enough to record a few songs so everyone can get a feel for how it sounds. I'd love to have any feedback you all feel like offering. This guitar will be for sale soon, I need to use it for promotional purposes for a little while.

Specs are as follows:

000 size, black walnut B/S
curly maple binding and appointments
5 piece claro walnut/maple/ebony neck, 24.9" scale
ebony fingerboard and pyramid bridge
scalloped sitka braces in X configuration, rosewood bridge plate
Gotoh black chrome 510 tuning machines
Finish and amber burst by Joe White

Thanks, as always, for looking.

Chris.

Looks fantastic to me! My only experience with making guitars is with solid bodies, which isn't in the same league as your lovely acoustic creation.

Sounds wonderful too, which is the primary concern of course.

I'm happy with how this one turned out. I like the sound now, plus I hope it'll open up well and sound even better.

Thanks again for the looks and nice comments.

Chris,

WOW. It looks even better with finish on it. I loved this guitar when it was in the white, but now...well...I know I had threatened to bonk you over the head with a dread and steal this one and I was kidding back then. But now..you should really watch out!!
Great work. I stole your side marker idea and used it on my walnut kit I am building for my brother. When its done, I will post pics. This looks and sounds fantastic!

Beautiful guitar, Chris! I'll bet it is stunning in person. How do you like the sound of the walnut? I really like the sound of my last one made with walnut. I think walnut makes a great tonewood.

Ken, I really like the sound so far. It'll be interesting to see what happens when it opens up some more. Pretty new now.

Chris, is that your own headstock shape? It looks good. Each time I think I have my own design, I spot it on another guitar. Looks like I will stick with the Martin paddle for a while. I really like the black theme on this one. Outstanding work.

Thanks guys. Yes, my headstock design. I spent a few hours at the bench with notepad, drawing shapes. I like it pretty well, thinking I'll stick with it.

I like the side markers. How did you install them? Can't see from this angle if they are inlayed or if you cut the binding and installed the black pieces in sections.

I cut the small squares of black pearl, sanded two sides to be flat and square, then put them into breaks in the binding. I did put the binding in in chunks. I filed/sanded the markers down level with the binding surface last. Worked out well.
