I want to refinish a guitar top, not certain about best way to remove the lacquer finish. It's a few years old.
Ideas?
Thx

Regular old "Stripease" gel will work great -- however, it will also ruin plastic bindings in a flash --- so the trim has to be masked off -- rosette too. Piant it on with a bristle brush let it set until the glob that's formed can be scraped off "easily" with a putty knife. Take handle the waste carefully, it will instantly stain the finish. It may take two applications. Wipe off the residue with paint thinner, sand and process like bare wood.

I've got a nice can of lacquer thinner here. Will it work as well?
