Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has used the Birchwood Casey Gun Stock Sealer and Filler? I can't find any mention of it in any of the Tru Oil discussions but I thought it would be a logical choice for filling pores if you are using Tru Oil?

Anyone had any experience with it?

Simon -- I tried it on the firs guitar, and found that it seals the pores, but does not fill them. On a gunstock, I imagine thickness of finish doesn't matter all that much so you could put on many coats to fill the pores. And, if you sanded down to the wood and left only the pores filled, that would probably be okay on a guitar.

I have used it as well, and found the same thing. Using silica with it improved its filling ability drastically.

Bill, Ken,

Many thanks! I've just set up another finish "testing" board so I'll give it a go.
