John, how far are you from the Martin factory? I can get down to PA pretty easily over weekends but I would suggest maybe in the early spring that way people aren't driving in winter weather. My parents live in Grove City so I could make it a long weekend get-together and visit the parents thing, maybe with a visit to Grizzly in the middle!

John,
That's mighty nice of you. Why don't you throw out a couple of dates that work for you and see if folks can pick one.

Hey John,

I am over in Jersey, and to be exact, 2.5 hrs from you. I think I can swing a trip to the shop.

Throw out a date, and we go from there.

Count me in John, it would be great to meet some of the members and see their guitars. You are about 8+ hours from me, ( I'm on the Canadian side of Detroit ) I enjoyed our last visit, and the martin tour is always worth the trip. Besides the wife is always up for a road trip.

Here's anothe one that can join you. I live about a half hour away from you down in Lebanon, so it's no problem for me either. Plus on the brighter side, May is pretty close to my birthday (June) so the wife can't complain too much. She keeps saying I love building guitars more than her. LOL

Hey guys!

I have been R-E-A-L-L-Y busy and haven't been on the board for a while. I haven't done any work on my son's guitar either. I'm in suburban Philadelphia, and my schedule will ease up considerably in the next month, so count me in for a May gathering.

I would be very interested in meeting some experienced builders. I am in SE Pennsylvania. May sounds just fine to me, although the weekend of the 17th is not good for me. I am a member of an Old English Sheepdog Rescue group, and I put together an annual picnic each year. BUT, that's just my 2 cents. Maybe by May I'll have summoned the courage to order my kit!

John,

I really consider to come over. Is it a one or two days program?

And guys,

The trip alone would cost me already a 700 dollar, so I want the staying in the US to be low-profile and low-cost. If I decide to come, I want to visit John, the Martin-plant and New York. Thinking about a week or so.

Is one of you in or near New York, where I could stay two or three nights. Just a matrass on the floor would be just fine.

John, I would like to come down to PA and check out the seminars if thats OK. By the first weekend in May I'm assuming the 3rd. I'm about 6 hours north in upstate NY, but have the 2nd off and can drive down for the weekend. I'm new to the forum, but am working on my 6th quitar and have materials for a couple more accumulated. At this time this is still a hobby for me, but who knows if that will change.

I'm from South Glens Falls (Lake George area), but I have been to Malone a few times and will probably be going up in a few weeks. I took a guitar building course from Dave, Lee and Pacho at CPI two years ago. I'm hoping to go up for a visit shortly, but I'm waiting on the weather to break. It's a nice drive, but not if it's snowing. And lately it seems to snow or ice every weekend. If you talk to Dave, my first name is Lance and I took the course in April of 2006.

Hi John,

Well i was hoping to make it, and really want too. My wife is expecting and is due May 19th. So if things look smooth the first week in May, I may be able to come. It is a 3 hr drive for me, which isn't so bad, unless my wife goes into labor with our 2nd child, then most likely I would miss it, ...ouch that would hurt!

So I am tentative, with a most likely no. I was really looking forward to it.

BTW, a large American Cherry tree (2 ft trunk diameter - atleast 25 feet long) fell in my buddies yard last weekend during the storm, and I may get some back and sides material for my next build. Big storms are always exciting for guitar builders.

Cheers

Hos

Hi John, I wanted to verify the date(s) for the open house at your shop before I reserve a room. Is the open house May 3rd, or May 3rd and 4th? I have to drive about 6 hours each way and have never been to Martin Guitar so my plan is to drive down on Friday the 2nd and go to Martin first than head towards your shop and stay somewhere near Pine Grove. I'll get to Pine Grove just about dinner time, relax and head to your shop first thing Saturday morning. I'm just wondering if I should plan for 2 nights or to drive home on Saturday evening.
Thanks. Lance.

MapQuest does a good job. I am about 10 minutes off rt 81 at the Hegins Exit.
Hegins is exit 112
turn west about 7 miles down is forrest dr. You can see the hi school and rombergers furniture store.
turn right and in a few minutes you will come to a stop sign and go straight. the road turns to dirt and look for a rock to your right. You will see the house and shop back in a field as you go past the old orchard. the rock has 244 and an arrow. turn right at the rock
thanks
