Thanks friends -- for being a part of this forum, and thanks to all who have expressed an interest in buying a copy of my new book. It's a couple of weeks late, but it's now available. (You will also get an email about it from the forum; sorry if it's like "Spam," but many people don't visit the forum very often but have expressed interest in the book.)

I'm pretty happy with the reproduction quality. This is a "POD," or "Print On Demand" book, so it isn't actually printed until you order it. Then it's printed and shipped -- so it takes about 8 days in the USA to get a copy. Add five days overseas -- (sorry Herman, Andy, Ted, Bill L ...). The photo reproduction inside isn't calendar quality, but it's good. The 491 photos show what they are supposed to show.

I must mention that it isn't intended to be an instruction book, but it written more for the person building his or her first kit, or considering purchasing his or her first kit. Having said that, there is still some information in it that I consider useful for anyone building any guitar ... pro luthiers excluded, of course.

You can read the Introduction and Contents by going to: www.KitGuitarManuals.com , or by going to my page on the publisher's site: stores.lulu.com/billcory . The book (with perfect or coil binding) can be purchased through either of those links as well. (Please note that bookstores, and Amazon later on, etc., can only offer the perfect binding, not the coil.)

Needless to say, I appreciate all of the support you guys have provided informationally and in other ways, and my entire family will really appreciate any purchases of the book ... 'nuf said.

You can purchase it in two binding styles:

Perfect Binding: Like this: or Coil Binding:

Again, THANK YOU to all. A writer's life is one of isolation (and building guitars doesn't exactly get me out of the house, either), so I really value all the contact with all of you as friends.

Sincerely,
Bill

Hey Bill.
I hope your book is a geat "hit" so to speak.I see you getting some talk over on some of the other guitar forums. My question to you is how can I order this book.I've been to the lulu site and can't find a phone number to call to order the book.I'm not the hippest guy when it comes to ordering online but I would like to call someone at lulu and place a order.Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place.
Thanks,
paul

Bill........ Congratulations! My copy is now ON ORDER! Again, I know that I am only saying what a bunch of us who have used this website know BUT There is NO WAY that I could have navigated the terrors of the minimal Martin manual without your website. Having a bunch of this same information in hard copy is going to be great. Tomorrow is 3 weeks that my finish is drying and with any luck in a few days, I should be banging away on my new flat top. and I know that I COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU! THANK YOU!!!! Good luck with the sales figures! .........Stuart

Bill-

Congratulations!! I wish you the very best for the book's success.

This is a natural and innovative progression to the help you have provided for many guitar builders across the web. :-)

It's so beautifully presented. I will buy this book as soon as my hiatus in ordering stuff is over (keeps the husband happy!!)

Till you've done it, there's no way to understand the effort that goes into writing a book. You should be very proud and happy with your accomplishment.

Kazaaam !

And to think, yesterday everyone had expected that J.K. Rowlings was going to sell the most books this year - She wasn't expecting this quality opposition.

I wish you all the best Bill. Clearly there has always been a gap in this market which is the first indicator of a good business decision. If I think back to 12 odd months ago when I was researching my first one, I would have bought this over Cumpiano's soley because it is targeted at my level... and it's 20 years younger...

May I suggest that you get a PDF of a few pages up on your main site. We always suggest to new comers to check out the Stewmac instructions so they know what steps they are getting into - Now we have an even better resource.

Best wishes my friend and shout out if you ever want a mail out base Down Under.

Many thanks Ted -- I appreciate your good wishes and suggestion. I did put up a PDF of the first 15 pages (Contents and Intro) at the Lulu store (http://stores.lulu.com/billcory) and on my new website (www.KitGuitarManuals.com), but I've been so busy (or...confused...) that I haven't had a chance to do it here or at the www.KitGuitarBuilder.com site.

I will do that today. Thanks again --

Dan -- Welcome to the forum, and many thanks! I'd particularly like to hear from you after you've read it; I'd like to hear your candid comments about how the book did or didn't help you in selecting a first kit to build.

Thanks for the order!

HI Bill,

Just ordered the book. I know it will be helpful.

I have been studying my Martin jumbo kit carefully and have developed a plan, before starting the first step. I have learned patience!!

I am going to update the selmer thread with my findings and some pics and more questions. the questions are getting deeper and more abundant, but far more interesting.

This website has greatly helped me, thank god I found it, I would be in a heap of trouble had I not used it. The book will be a nice compliment to the website.

You should start a Luthier school, where beginners build a guitar. you are only a few steps away.

Cheers.

I've thought about starting kit building classes, but don't have the financial capability. Maybe later.

I just received my copy last week. I was wondering why it took a bit to receive it. The "print on demand" explains that! I'm going to study this book and accumulate some tools over the next couple of years before I start a kit.

Bill, mine arrived last Thursday. That is 26 days in total, 20 working days. I guess it sounds like a lot but, the book does have to be printed and then shipped to the other side of the world. It arrived mangled but that is not a comment on Lulu's packaging - they could not have protected it better... obvioulsy the mail men saw it as a bit of a challenge.. lol

Ted -- was the book torn up, or just the packaging? If the book was damaged, you can contact Lulu and find out about a replacement -- I am sorry that it took so long. I don't know what the shipping method was; I send them from my own website using USPS Int'l Priority mail. (www.KitGuitarManuals.com)

Hiya Bill, I'm going through your book at the moment. Well done! And the shipping was extra fast; thanks.

I especially like your section on setting up a workshop and tools. For a newbie that can be pretty daunting and I think breaking it down by what you will need at which stages of construction is a great idea.

Cheers,

Simon

I received the book yesterday and finished it today.
I have to say that I think it is a very useful book that was missing from the printed books available.
Having said that, I personally don't think I gained that much from it because I had done a lot of homework on the subject. A lot of it done right here.
I wish I had read it before all those hours in front of the screen. Everything helps though. Right?
Anyway, great effort and a useful addition.

Bill,

As mentioned in my first post on this forum, I also purchased your book. I found it interesting, and I think it's a needed reference source for newcomers like myself, and I'm sure that the more it's read, the more I will take in.

I also purchased the Kinkead book! Another good book....to my mind, you can never have enough of these types of books in ones library!

Lastly, took the plunge and ordered the LMI serviced dred kit as well! Even though I really wanted to build a j-200 jumbo in curly maple, I decided to go with a serviced kit as it'll be my first attempt!

I wish you well with this venture!

Regards
Dave
