the cross spreaders used inside the mold for holding the sides in place.
the ones I am thinking about are adjustable and made using a turnbuckle.
The formed ends are contured to fit the mold at the front, middle and rear.
What size do you use for the ends.
maybe about 2" wide?
Thanks Dave
Just about have my mold finished . It need some fine tuning.

Whatever size you choose, be sure they will fit through the sound hole. Otherwise they're going to be stuck inside the guitar once the top and back are on! I set the top in place and practiced taking the spreaders out, to be sure I could do it.

Dennis makes a great point. I also want to add that don't allow the spreaders to be wider than the mold. I also use pipe insulation to pad things a bit. Use only enough force to hold the set in .

thanks Dennis and john,
My mold is 2.5" wide. so 2" would probably work.
I think I will try and use the piece that I cut the mmold from for the end pieces. they are all ready formed to the shape.
Thanks Dave

That's exactly what I did. I cut them from the scraps left over after cutting the inside of the mold. I epoxied a length of 1/4-20 threaded rod into one spreader end and a piece of 1/4" ID tubing into the other end. The threaded rod and tube overlapped about 2" in the middle. Then I used a wing nut to hold them snugly in place.
